What a luxury wedding film costs in the Canadian Rockies

Nobody publishes their numbers, which leaves couples triangulating from rumours. Here are ours, and the honest context around them.

The short version

In the Banff–Canmore–Calgary corridor in 2026, dedicated wedding filmmakers generally land in three bands:

**Under $3,000.** Usually a shooter working alone with one camera, delivering a highlight montage cut to licensed music. Nothing wrong with it — but the film's emotional engine is a song you did not choose from a licensing library, and songs date.

**$4,200 to $10,000.** The serious middle. Two or more camera angles, dedicated audio on the vows and speeches, colour work, and an edit composed around your voices. Our Collections begin at $4,200, and most Momentra couples choose between $6,500 and $9,900 depending on coverage.

**Above $10,000.** Documentary teams of three or more, multi-day coverage, cinema lenses, same-week teasers. Beautiful — and for most weddings, more crew than the day wants.

What actually moves the number

**Hours and days.** A ceremony-to-first-dance film is one price; getting-ready through last song is another; a Rockies wedding with a next-morning session at Moraine or Louise is a third.

**The films themselves.** A highlight film is the centre. A full ceremony edit, a speeches film, a trailer for sharing — each is real editing time, and this is where quotes diverge most.

**Audio.** Clean capture of vows and speeches means dedicated recorders on the officiant, the couple, and the podium. It is invisible in the quote and everything in the result.

**Travel.** Within the Bow Valley most studios build it in. Beyond, expect transparent line items rather than surprises.

Where the money goes

A wedding film is roughly one part filming to three parts everything after: syncing every camera to every recorder, selecting from hours of footage, composing a cut around the vows, grading the colour, mixing the sound. When a film costs $5,000, you are not paying for a Saturday. You are paying for the two weeks that follow it.

How to read any quote

Ask what happens to your vows, how many delivered films the number includes, and who does the editing. Then ask yourself the only question that matters: which of these films will I still want to watch in twenty years?
