What a brand film costs in Calgary, and what changes the number
Every owner asks it, and almost no studio answers it in public. Here is the shape of brand film pricing in Calgary and Edmonton in 2026, and the variables that actually move the number.
The bands, plainly
Content days — roughly $2,000 to $5,000. A day of filming, a batch of short cuts for social. The volume game. Useful for staying visible; rarely what changes how a market sees you.
The serious brand film — roughly $6,500 to $18,000. A film with an idea behind it: a script or interview spine, deliberate cinematography, colour and sound treated as craft. One film at this level outworks a year of disposable clips, because it is the thing a prospective client watches before deciding you are the obvious choice.
Campaign and broadcast work — $30,000 and far beyond. Agencies, casts, multi-day productions. For most independent luxury houses this is more machine than the job requires.
What moves the number
The idea. A film built on a real concept costs more to write and less to fix. Studios that skip pre-production charge less up front and deliver footage in search of a story.
Days on camera. Each filming day carries crew, gear, and lighting. A tight one-day film with a strong spine beats a loose two-day shoot every time.
The edit. Like tailoring, it is where the garment is actually made. Grading, sound design, and music licensing live here, mostly invisible until you see the difference.
Usage. A film for your own channels is one conversation; one destined for paid distribution is another, mainly around music licensing.
When it pays for itself
For a med spa, a fine-dining room, or a luxury property, the arithmetic is short: if the film moves a handful of high-value clients from considering to committed, it has covered itself. The failure mode is not overpaying — it is commissioning something so generic it moves no one, at any price.
How we work
Momentra takes on a small number of houses each season — aesthetic clinics, restaurants, property, premium boutiques — and composes each film around the voice of the house rather than a template. Engagements are by application, and indicative ranges are shared as part of it. If your house is weighing a film this year, see if you qualify; the application takes minutes and obliges you to nothing.
